With Dries' keynote kicking off DrupalCon DC yesterday Twitter now knows what it is to be slashdotted. #drupalcon has been the most popular tag since yesterday morning and Twitter's services were unavailable at some times during the day. Twitter's being used extensively to communicate between people at the Con. We use it when we're at our hotel, since they've blocked the IRC port. We use it at the Con to describe our deepest feelings about the sessions we just attended. We even used it during the opening keynote yesterday to display messages on the large screens set up there.
Just as they say on TV: "It's amazing, Mike!"
I can't remember doing much yesterday, but seemingly I have been too busy to write another blog entry, which I don't know is a good or a bad thing.
Summary: Drupal, Drupal and Drupal. Oh, wait, and Drupal.
At this moment we are still enjoying Dries' keynote about the history - and in a few moments also the future - of Drupal.
There are some great pictures of familiar faces within the community. A sleeping chx, Robert Douglass and Dries himself without the facial hair, our 12-year-old Drupal guru and kittens in danger.
After a 17-hour trip I finally reached Washington DC around 16:30 this afternoon for DrupalCon. I joined Bojhan, Wim, Nate and Brad at the convention center, where we picked up our swag.
After that we headed for RFD where we enjoyed a nice American meal: enough meat to feed a tribe of people for a month. We met some new people, exchanged business cards, ideas and drinks. Bojhan and I left with the excuse that we needed to prepare our presentations for this week, but actually we will be going to the Mac to get some more food first.
Stay tuned! Tomorrow day two of DC/DC!
Op 20 maart is er weer een DrupalJam! Deze keer reizen we af naar het schone Twente, waar de lucht nog schoon is en de seks nog.. ehh.. tsja.

Twente, it is!
An hour ago I got an email from Bonnie Bogle, a member of the organisation committee that organises DrupalCon DC, telling me that I have been given a scholarship to attend the Con! Fellow Drupallers Bojhan Somers and Wim Leers have also been selected for a scholarship. Never, ever do I win something with contests and stuff, but this prize more than makes up for that. Yeah!
The Drupal devroom schedule has just been published and it seems that my proposal has been accepted. On February 8, around 16:15, I will be doing a talk about Taxonomy. Are you a newcomer to Drupal and don't know what Taxonomy is or do you find it overwhelming? Are you a more advanced user, but do you still struggle when trying to categorise your site's content? Are you... Wait, you should all be there, because there will be something interesting for everyone!
Can't wait to see you at FOSDEM!
I am pleased to say that once again Drupal will be present at FOSDEM, held at February 7 and 8. We (as in the Drupal project) have been appointed a dev room for Sunday, between 9 and 5 o'clock GMT+1.
People may now propose or request talks at groups.drupal.org. I have proposed a talk about Taxonomy: the differences between conventional categorisation and Taxonomy, the differences between Drupal releases and how core and contributed modules may be used to apply, manipulate and browse it.
